The Horticultural Technician is part of a small team that supports the School’s plant research and teaching by providing day-to-day horticultural care, advice and operational assistance on a diverse range of plants, associated facilities (greenhouses and plant growth chambers) and equipment located in multiple facilities located around the ANU Canberra campus. A large part of the duties of the position involves ensuring that the plant facilities, and equipment, and activities within, remain compliant with the relevant Biosecurity and OGTR regulations – This involves such tasks as; following specific procedures for waste processing, undertaking regular care, maintenance and cleaning of facilities, training new users on behavioral requirements etc Other duties include maintaining plant collections, potting mix preparations, routine pest and disease screening, pest control activities, and covering for staff absences in the autoclave/washup area. We are looking for a candidate with technical skills and horticultural expertise – including experience with pesticide applications (desirable but not essential). Current Driver’s license essential.
