The role

We are looking for a dynamic Events Assistant who is keen to apply learnings from their studies by supporting our Events team of four as they deliver a variety of events around Australia and New Zealand.

The Events Assistant will provide event coordination and administration support which is vital to ensure the successful delivery of our events.

In doing so, the Events Assistant will gain practical experience around how to deliver professional events that continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of attendees.

About us

We are a fun and focused not-for-profit industry association that runs a wide array of events in Australian Capital Cities and Auckland.

Our events continually sell out. They range from invite-only Board room lunches or dinners for 20 Senior Executives to our end of year conference and exhibition; AusRAIL. AusRAIL PLUS 2023 attracted more than 7,000 attendees in Sydney.

Our team of four deliver a mix of lunches, dinners and smaller conferences (for approx. 200 attendees). Supporting the delivery of these events will provide a strong basis to embed learnings from your Events Degree.

We are the Australasian Railway Association (ARA), the peak body for the rail sector in Australia and New Zealand. We champion the benefits of the rail industry on behalf of more than 220 member organisations.

About you

You will have the following attributes:

•       Highly organised with an ability to work under-pressure.

•       Excellent attention to detail and time management skills including working to deadlines.

•       Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with willingness to speak to members and stakeholders.

•       Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products.

•       Ability to collaborate with other teams to ensure success of events.

•       Ability to travel and work flexibly occasionally if required to attend events.

•       Experience in a membership-based organisation is preferred but not essential.
